Shizuka sighed and flopped onto her back on the floor. “I doubt it’s Kuuga specifically. He’s just blah blah darkness blah all the damn time. He was always like that. I can’t believe I ever thought it was cool…”

“That’s the problem.” Godai said as he flopped onto his back as well. “Kuuga can bring the ‘Ultimate Darkness’ that he so desperatly seeks.” He let out a sigh. “Not that it will, since it’s me that is Kuuga so, it’ll be fine… Just… Fine…” Godai stopped talking and became silent for a moment.

Shizuka looked over, watching him a moment, and then puches herself up. He seemed upset. Shouka pushed herself to her feet. “Well, last time he tried that bullshit, Masumi and the others beat the shit out of him.” Shizuka grinned, “So, if he tries again, then we’ll all just have to beat him up!” She punched the air infront of her.

Godai didn’t make a noise or move in response, he just laid there until…

A small snore came out of him. He wasn’t upset or worried about Yaiba… He had just fallen asleep.

Shinka stared a moment, and then sighed. In the heat of battle, she’d forgotten that Godai was kind of an idiot… She looked around, spotting a closet, and dug out a couple of blankets, dropping them over him. It would be no good if her housekeeper caught a cold.

Shizuka was a little relieved when he was just Godai again. Kuuga’s strength was a little scary. She looked over as he sat next to her and smiled a little. “Yeah… Pretty cool. I guess I picked the right guy to look after my house…”

Godai laughed. “I suppose you did… I’m just glad I was around to help.” He then looked around. “And that I’m still about to help with this mess.”

He let out a sigh before adding. “Though this Yaiba fellow… He’s up to something very bad, if he’s interested in Kuuga’s power.”

Shizuka sighed as Yaiba vanished and sank down to sit on the floor. She was tired and sore now and sht still was trying to process this whole… Kuuga thing… She looked up at Godai thoughtfully. “…You’re a Rider. I… I don’t know a whole lot about them but… That’s what you are, right?”

“Rider?” The Kuuga armour disappeared and Godai returned to the more familiar form. “I do have a bike that I rider… So I guess I’m a ‘Rider’”

He nodded as he sat down next to Shizuka. “Though that is Kuuga, cool isn’t it!” He gave Shizuka a smile, proud of his power.

For a long moment, Shizuka just stared at Godai in confusion and disbelief. “W-What the hell is a Grongi?” Shizuka stammered. Explode? …He… He wanted to keep Yaiba from exploding to protect the house?

“H-He’s just Yaiba… I don’t… I don’t think he’s whatever that is…”

“Oh…” Godai nodded. “Okay then!” Godai swung downwards but, in this time Yaiba had more then enough time to dodge.

“Clearly… There is no point in this fight anymore.” Yaiba stood up. “I have what I want.” He threw a smoke bomb at the ground.

“Hey!” Godai ran forward into the smoke but nothing was there. “He’s gone…”

Godai couldn’t endure it. Kuuga’s strength was impressive but it wasn’t enough… Shizuka had to do something. Godai was depending on her. Quietly, she pushed herself up, watching, trying to judge the range of the attack. No way around it…

Shizuka flinched as Yaiba called her a dog again. Why did that hurt so much? She was still trying to think of a plan when the sound of Godai angrily stomping his foot made her jump. She stared as his body changed again and he pushed through the cranes like they were nothing. Her body tensed as he stole Yaiba’s sword.

She knew it was still Godai, that what he was doing was done for her sake, but she couldn’t help being somewhat afraid.

“Shizuka…” Godai let out with a weak and out of breath voice. “He’s not part Grongi is he?”

“Eh?” Yaiba broke out of his freeze to enter one of confusion.

“Because if he is and I attack him, he might explode which could break your house!” Godai mentioned with genuine worry about her belongings.

For a long moment, Shizuka just stared at Godai in confusion and disbelief. “W-What the hell is a Grongi?” Shizuka stammered. Explode? …He… He wanted to keep Yaiba from exploding to protect the house?

Shizuka pulled to the side, moving herself back beside Godai as Yaiba stumbled from Kuuga’s attack. Fighting both of them… She sort of liked the sound of that. Man… Godai was so cool. She’d thought he was just a weird drifter when she had taken him in.She hadn’t expected something like this.

Shizuka tensed as Yaiba started summoning the paper cranes. She knew how to survive the attack. She was fast enough that she could manage through it. And if she took the brunt of it, Godai would be fine.

Shizuka was braced to move when suddenly Godai pulled infront of her. “Ah!! Godai don’t—!” She froze, watching Kuuga move forward, pushing through the attack like it was nothing. An attack that was usually fatal.. That could kill multiple targets at once. She just stared.

“…G-Godai?”

Kuuga continued to step into the attack as Titan form usually allowed him but, as he got closer and more and more cranes began to hit him. Even Godai began to feel it, and he began to get pushed back by it.

“Few survive this attack, none the less walk into it like a fool.” Yaiba felt his confidence return. “I can keep this up for as long as I need to until both you and that dog is dead.”

Godai stomped his back foot into the ground, regaining his balance as yellow sparks began to run off of him. He then let out a loud yell before his body changed again.

Yaiba tilted his head. “What was that?”

Kuuga didn’t respond, he just returned to walking into the cranes this time not only faster but completely uninhibited by the attack.

“Impossible.” Yaiba pulled out a sword and swung at Kuuga when he got close.

Godai caught it and the sword transformed in his hands into a purple a gold sword.

“What!?” Yaiba grabbed another sword but, Godai whacked it out of his hand and lifted his purple and gold blade into the air. He then swung it downwards aiming at Yaiba’s head but, he stopped just before hitting him causing Yaiba to freeze up.

Shizuka watched them fight. Yaiba was faster and stronger than Godai. Not by much, but he was. She jumped slightly, halting in her slow, subtle movement around the room as Godai’s suit changed from red to blue. She stared as the broom changed into a staff, and then continued moving as Yabia pushed Godai back.

Whatever Kuuga was… Yaiba wanted it for his ambitions. Shizuka would have been against that anyway, since Yaiba was a traitor and a jerk and there was no way she’d ever let him get what he wanted… But Godai was doing all of this because he cared about her. He was her friend and he wanted to help her. Fight with her… Shizuka kept her back to the wall as she slid around the room. Yaiba seemed to have completely forgotten her.

Perfect.

Shizuka launched forward, slashing kunai at Yaiba’s back.

“Ahh!” Yaiba screamed out as the kunai dug into his back. “You little!” He turned around to attack Shizuka but, as he did so Godai took his chance, slamming his rod into Yaiba’s back.

“You’re fighting the both of us!” Godai remarked as he connected again with his staff, sending Yaiba back a bit. The blue Kuuga then tried to ram the end of the pole into Yaiba’s gut but, the ninja rolled away avoiding the attack.

With enough space between then Yaiba was able to catch his breath and slowly rise to his feet. “Fighting… The both of you?” He let out a small laugh. “Well I’ll just have to eliminate one.” He stood with his hands at his sides as he began to summon paper cranes. “1000 Paper Crane Dark Blizzard!”

Godai looked over at the Cranes and then over at Shizuka realizing that who he’s aiming it at. “What out!” He tossed his staff aside and yelling out. “Chou Henshin!” This time Kuuga turn silver in colour as he stood in front of Shizuka blocking the cranes.

“You shield her eh? Very well, I’ll just continue the attack.” His plan was simple, either wear out Kuuga or last long enough for Shizuka to do something impulsive.

However what he didn’t plan for was for Godai to begin walking forward into the cranes.

Shizuka lay ont he floor, trying to gather the strength to get up and fight. She wouldn’t let him destroy her home. Not after all of the work she and Godai had put into cleaning it up. Roll.. She could roll. She needed to dodge the attack. And she began bracing, ready to move…

…And thent ehre was Godai’s voice. She turned her head toward him, looking up as he came to help her. “D-Do I look okay?” She grumbled. She growled at Yaiba. Kuuga again… There Godai went talking about Kuuga. She still didn’t know what the hell that meant.

Shizuka frowned, confused. Yaiba knew what Kuuga was? How the hell did Yaiba now?! And why was he acting like SHE knew and had executed some kind of brilliant plan? She looked back to Godai. Protect her? She opened her mouth to protest that, as Shizuka could protect herself thank you very much, but Yaiba beat her too it.

…He didn’t think she was weak? He just… wanted to help her? shizuka let out a startled squeak as the belt appeared, pushing backward, away from him, as he transformed. What the hell?! But the voice that came from it was still Godai’s. Shizuka rolled onto her stomach and pushed herself up with a grunt. “S-So that’s ‘Kuuga’ huh?” She grinned a little, settling her weight. “I sure took in a hell of a guy, didn’t I?

Godai didn’t say anything, he only turned to her and gave her a thumbs up.

“Kuuga…” Yaiba said as he stepped forward. “This may work out for myself.” He pulled his swords out again. “Now Kuuga! Show me… The Ultimate Darkness!” He then charged forward to attack Godai.

In response Godai ran forward and grabbed onto Yaiba, causing the two to roll onto the floor. The two separated and stood up readying to go at each other again. “I won’t need that power to stop you!”

Kuuga then ran forward and swung his fists at Yaiba, clearly the more knowledgble fighter of the two, Yaiba dodges each swing and rams the hilt of his sword into Godai gut. “Such power… Yet no skill!” 

Yaiba booted Godai back a bit to give him enough room to start swinging his blades. Godai tried to avoid or block but, Yaiba’s skill was much more than his slashing at his arms and legs before swiping both of them against Kuuga’s chest. “Ahh!” Godai yelled out as he rolled away. He picked himself of and caught his breath.

“Do you really plan to beat me with that?” Yaiba stepped towards Kuuga. 

“He’s fast…” As Godai turned his head he noticed a broom next to him. “That’s it! Chou Henshin!” His red armour turned into blue and he quickly picked up the broom.

The broom turned into his staff, just as Yaiba got to him. Not phased by the transformation Yaiba attacked with a flurry of slashes. This time however Godai was able to keep up with the attacks blocking them with the staff.

In his anger Yaiba swung both his blades into Godai’s staff and pushed him into the wall, pinning him to it.

“Very well.” Yaiba put his swords away. “First I’ll kill you, then I’ll destroy this building, then I’ll find Gekkou-sama and then I’ll have the ‘Ultimate’ darkness.” His mask split open revealing his true face. “Farewell dog.”  Yaiba stood ready to finish things up, his hands calmly at his sides he began to focus on his final attack.

However his concentration was halted by the sound of rubble to his side. He turned around as saw Godai stumble into the room. “Ultimate darkness? I thought that was me.” He nodded as he displayed a look of confusion.

“Hmm…” Yaiba tilted his head equally bewildered by the man’s tenacity. “Few have been able to survive my attacks, none the less walk around after them. Who are you?”

“I’m Kuuga!” His stepped over and checked on Shizuka. “You okay Shizuka-san?”

“Kuuga?” Yaiba paused. “That sounds familiar… Perhaps you are one with Darkness?”

Godai looked over and nodded. “I was the one who was to bring ‘Ultimate’ darkness…” He paused. “That is if my well ran dry… I think it was a well or was it a fountain. Then there was  that thing about warriors appearing like lighting.” He shook his head. “I was never good at figuring all that out.”

“Kuuga.” Yaiba quickly realized. “It can’t be… The same?” Yaiba seemed bothered by the idea that Godai was Kuuga. “Why are you here? How could you have known? She must have known? But how could she have?”

“Eh?” Godai stepped forward. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m here because Shizuka-san is my friend and I want to protect her smile.”

Yaiba snapped out of it as he heard Godai’s words. “Protect… Her smile?”

“Ah! She a great person… With an amazing smile. which is why I’ve stayed here and helped rebuild her home. I’ve heard stories of the things she had to do and the thing she had to go through. You’re one of those, one of those things that threaten her smile.”

“So you have to protect her.” Yaiba puffed. “She was always too weak.”

“Wrong! I’m not protecting her smile because, she needs me to. She can do that well on her own. I’m helping protect her smile because I want to.” A belt appeared around Godai’s waist. “I don’t want her to lose her smile ever again!” He moves his hands around until finally pushing down the side of his belt. “Henshin!”

The red warrior Kuuga stood between Yaiba and Shizuka, ready to defeat her and her smile. However he stopped for a moment and turned to her. “Let’s work together… Shizuka-san.”
